Don't Neglect Yourself

Last night, after a long 12 hours of school and traffic, I decided to do something for myself. I haven't had the chance to do anything for myself since August. I began feeling really stifled and tense so I decided to make a little change. I wanted to do something different that would get me out of the monotonous, ritualistic funk I've been in ever since the school year started. I realized I've been neglecting myself, therefore, yesterday, I decided to do something that I haven't done in a long time...I went to an acting class. Acting has always been a form of release for me. When I am on stage, I forget everything that is in my life, it's a form of escapism that flushes any stress or pressure from my mind and body. The class was amazing. All the vigor and inspiration I've been lacking lately was restored last night.

Today, I woke up feeling refreshed and exuberant, perhaps a lot of it has to do with the beautiful weather outside but, regardless, I do feel a sense of release and freedom that I haven't felt in a long time. Because my head has been so concentrated on work and school, I would not allow myself to "waste" time. What I realized last night and this morning, however, is the importance of "Me-Time" as Eli once told me when I first started interning here. "Me-Time" is really crucial for a healthy, hearty attitude and outlook on daily responsibilities and life.
