Are you feeling swamped? Alone? Depressed? There may be a reason. You may be friend deprived.
In an excellent article in Monday's Los Angeles Times, Hilary E. MacGregor reported that Americans have fewer close pals to confide in than we did 20 years ago. The General Social Survey showed the number of close friends dropped by a whopping 33%.

Even more terrifying was the fact that 25% responded that they had noone to talk to.
This is a frightening turn of events for women. A landmark study at UCLA showed that women "Tend and Befriend" as a natural way to fight stress.

Yeah, I read about this online too. I think our younger individuals in society are going to become isolated techno robots if we're not careful.
Do you all think this female isolation comes from trying so hard to succeed professionally in difficult male dominated work enviroments?
I think that we have gotten too caught up in all the doing of life. (I am as guilty as anyone else.) It seems like the smart ladies will make freindship a prioity...it will lead to more sanity in the long run.
That's why I am going to a salsa class tonight with a gal pal!
