Stress Tip- Stupid Is As Stupid Does

This is no great surprise to you or me... but folks with low incomes are more likely to be under stress than those that have more money. This is according to a study published in Psychosomatic Medicine, the journal of the American Psychosomatic Society, by Sheldon Cohen, Carnegie Mellon’s Robert E. Doherty Professor of Psychology.

The study tracked income and years of education for 193 people. Then they tested their urine and saliva for stress hormones. Cohen and his co-authors found that the lower the income and education levels, the higher the levels of three stress hormones: epinephrine, norepinephrine and cortisol. This finding was independent of race, age, gender or body mass index.

What I found interesting about the study is that the less educated the study subject was the less healthy their habits. So, it may have less to do with the money a person earned and more to do with how educated their choices were.
The lower peoples' incomes and education levels were, the more likely they were to smoke and skip breakfast. (Who knew that eating breakfast is a good indicator of good health habits.)

I think it has less to do with making money and more to do with making smart choices. No matter how much money you make or don't....you don't have to smoke or do other things that are huge stressors for that great bod of yours!
