Stress-Free Dieting Tips

In a study published by "Psychoneuroendocrinology", research showed that dieting in groups reduces stress and promotes long-term success. Aside from providing encouragement, weight-loss groups help women maintain their diets longer, stress-free, and more efficiently. Dieting alone can cause anxiety resulting in one quitting prematurely. In the study, three groups were formed; one supervised by a commercial weight-loss group, one unsupervised group, and the third a nondieting group for 8 weeks. After about a week, the unsupervised dieting group experienced a rise in the stress hormone cortisol while the support group dieters did not. While both dieting groups lost about the same amount of weight, the commercial support group dieters did it stress free!

So next time you decide to go on a diet, make it fun and stress-free by joining a group or getting a friend to do it with you.

This is great news Eli. I hope you don't mind that I mention Donate Your Weight as a program that also promotes group support. I hope to have many groups formed in 2007. By the way, I added your blog to my links and I enjoyed interviewing you this week. The podcast is also at my blog. Check it out: http://www.donateyourweight.blogspot.com/
