The Wine Diet

If you love wine, then you will love this Fabulous statistic! Danish researchers observe that people who drink wine, eat healthier foods than beer drinkers do. The researchers divided shoppers into "wine only," "beer only," "mixed," and "non-alcohol" shoppers in their 6 month research. The wine drinkers favored a Mediterranean diet like olives, milk, and low-fat cheese while beer drinkers went for foods like chips, sausages, and butter. The September 2006 issue of Allure speculates that perhaps this statistic can be linked to wine's ability to reduce heart disease and cancer risk...it's not the wine but rather the wine drinker's diet that is responsible.

Also, because beer is usually consumed with snacks like chips, pretzels, etc., and wine with meals, the wine drinker, with the help of antioxidants found in wine, will probably be leaner and healthier.

Next time you're at the supermarket, skip the beer aisle and pick up a bottle of wine for dinner. You will feel more Fabulous both on the inside and out.

***25% of American adults consume wine.
